VRAM, also video memory and Video RAM, is commonly referred to as being the video memory on your graphics adapter.

VRAM is used to temporarily store a resource that is being sent to the video card. VRAM is emptied, like regular computer memory, on system reboot or when a program releases the resource on-demand.

An important component of the VRAM is the Z-Buffer (also: depth buffer) which contains the display-order in which three dimensional visual resources are being presented on the screen.
